On November 1, 2013, Samara Swanston, Legislative Counsel to The Environmental Protection Committee of the New York City Council, gave a talk about the initiatives for renewable energy that the NYC Council has developed, at the Great Hall Gallery at Cooper Union.

The image on the wall is the Gas Safety Inc. chart of fugitive emissions in Manhattan – a portion of the exhibition, Emissions: Images from the Mixing Layer, organized and curated by Rebecca Smith and Ruth Hardinger. Cooper Union/Institute for Sustainable Design and the Art Department sponsored this exhibition and panel discussion as participants in the 2013 Marfa Dialogues/NY.
