May 21, 2014Twelve New York State counties have passed legislation taking steps to limit or ban fracking wastes in various applications within their borders. The provisions vary somewhat from county to county, but in general focus on prohibiting acceptance of fracking waste at treatment facilities, sale of fracking waste, or use of brine from fracking operations on roads.
Below are links to pdfs of the legislation. At the top is Westchester, considered to be the gold standard of laws passed so far, and a legislation template that can be used by other counties seeking to pursue this avenue.
