Season's Greetings – A Poem

Christmas Tree in New York State

Christmas Tree in New York State

Christmas Tree in Pennsylvania

Christmas Tree in Pennsylvania

In the dark of winter,
I heard mighty roar,
Our upstate paradise was saved
Fracking is no more.

The solstice will lengthen the day
Gas flaring can go away
My tap water will not burn and flicker
The landsmen face an empty winter.

Now and then the good guys win
That they don’t more is a sin
But at least the Christmas landscape view
Will not be blighted by rigs that spew.

On my way to sing the chorus
I will not be delayed by trucks enormous
Filled with chemicals and other guk
That makes my metabolism stuck.

So let us praise our righteous neighbors
Who smartly spurned the frackers favors
And all their cheesy claim of goodies
Or why we should hack down our woodies.

And so at the time of the age old cry
Beloved sun, don’t leave the sky
We sing of a sunrise for upstate
Fracking’s dead, let’s celebrate.

Thank You New York!
