Brought to you by the Delaware River Frack Ban Coalition, of which DCS is a member, the Frack Ban Summer Series continues with this second Webinar on Fracking and Water.
Water is the heart and soul of the Delaware River Watershed, sustaining communities and life and providing drinking water for up to 17 million people. The Basin is under attack by the shale gas industry that wants to withdraw water from the watershed, exporting it to frack regions outside its boundaries. Not only does this threaten the waters of the Delaware with depletion and unrecoverable loss of flow, but it also would support and fuel fracking in other communities, an unethical proposition.
Special guest speaker Ted Auch, FracTracker Alliance, will explain the enormous sea change in the volume of water being used in today’s fracked wells in Pennsylvania’s Marcellus shale. An eye-opening presentation by an expert who has mined the data fields of the fracking industry to discover the facts!
Peter Demicco, Registered Professional Geologist in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, hydrogeologist, and an expert in ground water recharge, stream base flow, and stream hydrology will discuss the impacts of depletive and consumptive uses of water and how climate change is effecting our natural hydrologic systems.
