September 30, 2023At noon on September 17, 2023, community members held a rally in Narrowsburg, NY to call for an end to fossil fuels. Speaking about the rally, DCS Director Barbara Arrindell said: “We’re here on the Narrowsburg bridge today, September 17, in order to emphasize the importance of reduction of fossil fuel use and to make sure there is a future for the younger generation.“

The rally was part of a week of action, sponsored by over 1,200 climate and environmental justice groups, calling on President Biden to declare a climate emergency to halt oil exports and investments in fossil fuel projects, among other things. Tens of thousands of climate activists took to the streets of New York City on the 17th, marching to end fossil fuels.
