PennDOT has posted a Section 106 process update announcing plans to dismantle the Skinners Falls Bridge, which crosses the Delaware River at Milanville, PA. This will be done for public safety reasons. PennDOT has been studying options for this crossing since 2021 and will continue with this process after the bridge has been dismantled and stored. The bridge has been closed since 2019.

PennDOT will work with the PA State Historic Preservation Office and the NYS Historic Preservation Office to preserve and store bridge components after it is dismantled. This could be the first step in the rehabilitation of this historic structure.

UDC Executive Director Laurie Ramie says that PennDOT intends to have an in-person meeting before the Damascus Township supervisors on Monday, November 18, at 7 pm.
